To put as a wall decoration in a child's room, on a wardrobe door for example or to handle in a puppet show. 

A small system of strings makes it possible to lift the arms and legs of the friendly elephant by pulling on them. 

The character of Babar was created by Jean de Brunhoff in 1931 when he saw his sons' enthusiasm for the adventures of an elephant told by his wife Cécile.
